Hi, I'm Jack McGuire, owner of Black Butte Tree Service.
I didn't come to tree work the usual way. I learned to run a chainsaw fighting wildland fire — cutting trees that were actively on fire, where you have to be completely locked in because there's no room for error. From there I became a firefighter and paramedic and served on my department's technical rescue team, where I learned rope systems, angles, and mechanical advantage: how to move very large, heavy things safely in tight, awkward spots.
Those two skills — precise saw work under pressure and safely rigging heavy loads — are exactly what good, safe tree work takes. That background is the whole reason I run this business the way I do: safety first, no shortcuts, and honest advice about what your property actually needs.
I'm an owner-operator, so when you call Black Butte, you get me — on-site for the estimate and up in the tree doing the work. I take pride in leaving a property safer and cleaner than I found it.
When I'm not working, I'm home with my wife and son here in Northern California. Protecting the homes and trees in this community is personal — it's where my family lives too.
